Rakhine Chief Minister furnishes cash assistance to IDPs in Ponnagyun

Rakhine Chief Minister U Nyi Pu and wife, state ministers, director-general from the Disaster Management Department under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Secretary of the state government U Nyi Nyi Min, officials from the Disaster Management Department and officials met with the internally displaced persons-IDPs in Ahtetmyatlae village in Ponnagyun this morning. They spoke words of encouragement to them and furnished cash assistance and relief items.


During the meeting, the chief minister said that arrangements are being made to ensure security for local people and to live in peace and tranquility. The MSWRR is also fulfilling the needs of the IDPs such as food, health care and medicines, he added. Afterwards, the needs for ensuring food, accommodation, health and water supply system were discussed by the chief minister and officials.


The chief minister and his wife and state ministers donated K 4.2 million, 200 bottles of drinking water, 82 packages of household goods by the Rakhine State Government to IDPs in Ponnagyun. The director-general of the Disaster Management Committee Dr. Ko Ko Naing provided donations made by the MSWRR such as K 3,753,000 for rice per a month, K 440,000 for 88 maps, K 461,100 for 176 blankets and K 50,000 to each new mother. 


A total of 427 people from 88 households are at the IDPs camp in Athetmyatlae village.
