Region, state cycling competitions held in Nay Pyi Taw

With the aim of improving sports standards in Myanmar, the Sports and Physical Education Department of the Ministry of Health and Sports, in cooperation with the Myanmar Cycling Federation, organized the 2019-2020 region-state cycling competitions yesterday in front of the Wunna Theikdi Stadium in Nay Pyi Taw.


The competitions included the women’s 500-m event, men’s 1,000-m event, men’s 9-km event, and men’s 15-km event.


In the women’s 500-m competition, Soe Sanda Win (Taninthayi) won the first prize (43.85 seconds), Hla Hla Nwe (Bago) bagged the second prize (45.09 seconds), and Thin Kalayar Soe (Mandalay) came third (45.25 seconds).


In the men’s 1,000-m competition, Kaung Sithu (Bago) won the first prize, Nyi Nyi Aung (Yangon) the second prize, and Thura Kyaw (Magway) the third prize. In the men’s 9-km team competition, the Magway Region team won the first prize, the Ayeyawady Region team the second prize, and the Taninthayi Region team the third prize.


In the men’s 15-km team competition, the Magway Region team came first, the Yangon Region team second, and the Mandalay Region team finished third. The 2019-2020 region-state cycling competitions will be held till 9 January.


A total of 87 cyclists, 59 men and 28 women, with 11 region-state teams, 11 men’s teams, and 7 women’s teams are taking part in the competitions.
