Regular flights begin between Israel and UAE

The first regular commercial flight between Israel and the United Arab Emirates has gone into operation, signaling the beginning of closer economic ties between the two nations.

UAE's low-cost carrier flydubai is the first airline to provide the service. It will operate twice-daily flights between the two countries. Its first flight from Tel Aviv arrived at Dubai International Airport on Thursday evening.

The launch of the flight comes after the two countries reached a US-brokered deal to normalize ties in September.

The deal broke a long-standing rift between Israel and Arab countries over the Palestinian issue. Two other Arab nations, Bahrain and Sudan, also recently agreed to normalize ties with Israel.

US President-elect Joe Biden has also supported the developments.
