A relief flight of Myanmar Airways International carried back 99 citizens from the Republic of Korea and 34 citizens from Canada and the United States, totalling 133 persons, yesterday evening after they were stranded in these countries due to suspension of international flights amid COVID-19 pandemic.
On arrival at the Yangon International Airport, officials from the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, the Ministry of Health and Sports, and the Yangon Region government helped for their 21-day quarantine period in line with the regulations of immigration and medical checks.
As per the directives of National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and in coordination with other relevant ministries in Myanmar and the Myanmar embassies in respective countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs arranged relief flights and chartered planes to bring back Myanmar people from foreign countries.
A total of 3,109 people have been repatriated to Myanmar so far.—MNA(Translated by Aung Khin)
