Retired govt. employee donates antique clay pot to Bagan Archaeological Museum

A retired civil servant handed over an antique clay pot to the Bagan Archaeological Museum of the Department of Archaeology, National Museum and Library under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.

Daw Mya Than, a retired manager from the Myanmar Petroleum Products Enterprise donated a century old clay pot used by her ancestors. On behalf of the donor, U Kyaw Sein from Yezagyo Township entrusted the ancient artifact which is believed to be from the Konbaung Period, to U Nyi Mon, Deputy Director of the Bagan Archaeological Museum at a ceremony held in Bagan yesterday. The ancient clay pot with a radius of 31 centimeters is 50 centimeters high and 170 centimeters in circumference.

The deputy director of the Bagan Archaeological Museum presented a certificate of honour to the donor.—Kyaw Htay
