Returnees from Thailand can face action unless reporting to authorities under disaster law

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye called on officials of the ministry’s departments in regions and states for cooperating with regional authorities in fighting the COVID-19 in their regions respectively.

He urged the officials at the video conferencing meeting yesterday to work together with regional authorities to provide the community-based facility quarantine to Myanmar migrant workers returned from Thailand.

In his address, the Union Minister urged his ministry’s employees to explain the returnees about the benefits of the quarantine and about the duty of a good citizen to follow the directives of the health authorities.

He said those who failed to follow the directives of the authorities can face action under the Section-2 (b) of the Natural Disaster Management Law as the Covid-19 pandemic is also a naturauyl disaster.

The governmental employees are obliged to articulate the Natural Disaster Law to the people to ensure that people do not break the law.

At the video conferencing, Deputy Minister U Soe Aung also urged the officials to cooperate with the officials of General Administrative Department in fighting the infectious disease. The officials from the regions and states also discussed the tasks with the Union Minister.—MNA (Translated by TTN)
