Kyaikto, 3 January
A ceremony to hand over rice bags to the flood victims took place at the meeting room of the General Administration Department in Kyaikto, Mon State this morning.
At the ceremony, Lower House Lawmaker Dr. Khin Hsaung, Upper House MP U Hla Myint Than and Township Administrator U Ye Win Htike gave speeches. Afterwards, an official from the Department of Agriculture clarified matters relating to distribution of rice bags to the flood victims. Local authorities then presented 386 rice bags to 3082 flood victims.
The rice bags were donated by the Republic of Korea under Tier 3 Programmes of the ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve (APTERR).—IPRD
