Rural electrification facility inaugurated in Kalaw

A ceremony to launch a rural electrification structure was held in Myinmahti Village in Kalaw Township, Southern Shan State on Sunday morning.

The rural electrification facility was formally opened by Shan State Minister for Planning and Finance U Sai Nyunt Lwin, Shan State Minister for Electricity, Energy and Industry U Sai Shan Tit Lon, the Lower House MP Daw Pyone Kathi Naing, the Upper House Legislator U Zaw Min Latt and the regional lawmaker U Than Htike by cutting a ceremonial ribbon.

In his opening address, Shan State Minister for Planning and Finance U Sai Nyunt Lwin said that out of 253 villages in Kalaw Township, 97 villages have access to electricity, saying the local government has been carrying out developmental tasks to fulfill the needs of the local people. The newly-inaugurated rural electrification project was implemented at a cost of more than Ks. 330 million from the local government’s funds in the fiscal year 2018-2019, he added.

The speeches by Shan State Minister for Electricity, Energy and Industry U Sai Shan Tit Lon, the Lower House MP Daw Pyone Kathi Naing, and the Upper House Legislator U Zaw Min Latt followed. A villager also spoke words of thanks on behalf of the local people. 1,186 residents from 388 households in four villages have been facilitated with electricity.

At the same time, economic, social, health and education standard of the local people will improve, thereby contributing to ensuring regional developmental tasks.—Kyaw Win (IPRD)
