Approximately 200,000 local and foreign travellers visited Sagaing Region last year, according to the statistics from the Directorate of Hotels and Tourism.
Monywa Zone received 133,371 local and foreign visitors while Kalay Zone welcomed 35250 guests at home and abroad in 2018. Sagaing Zone attracted 14,948 travellers including 1,380 globetrotters while Shwebo Zone wooed 4,304 sightseers in the same period. 8,945 visitors toured the region in that period; so the number of travellers at home and abroad saw 196,928 in total.
118,353 visitors travelled to Monywa Zone last year while 22,894 vacationers visited Kalay Zone. 11,711 trippers toured Sagaing Zone in that period while Shwebo Zone welcomed 5,976 visitors including 604 tourists. Katha Zone attracted 8,168 travellers at home and abroad; so the number of visitors to Sagaing Region in 2017 totaled 168,102, according to the DHT’s statistics.—Win Oo (Zeyar Taing)
