Shan United contributes K2 million to COVID-19 centres

Defending champions of the Myanmar National League, Shan United Football Club recently donated a total of K2 million for COVID-19 centres in Yangon, according to the statement with the football club.


Firstly, Shan United Football Club contributed K1 million to the Ayeyawady Centre for combatting COVID-19 pandemic across the country, announced by Shan United FC on their official social media page.


The donation was made by the team’s captain and goalkeeper Thiha Sithu on behalf of the football club and its fans.


Next, Shan United also donated K1 million to the Inya Centre for better support of doctors, nurses, patients and volunteers working at the centre.


Officials of the COVID-19 centres presented the certificates of honour to the Shan United football star Thiha Sithu for the team’s donations.


Previously, other Myanmar National League football clubs: Yangon United and Ayeyawady United respectively contributed to the COVID-19 centres in Yangon to combat the threatening of the pandemic.


The Ministry of Health and Sports also gave full permission to run the temporary healthcare centres in Yangon, and the ministry has also contributed medical equipment for the centres, according to the statement with the Myanmar Football Federation. —Lynn Thit (Tgi)
