Suspected drug courier arrested for possessing stimulant tablets, heroin

Local police arrested a suspicious drug transporter along with stimulant tablets and heroin in Indaw Township, Sagaing Region on Sunday.

 

Upon receiving a tipoff, an anti-drug squad headed by Police Inspector Kyaw Soe Lin rushed to an inter-village junction on the Shwebo-Myitkyina Road in Indaw Township on 17 February where they stopped a suspected drug carrier. The anti-drug police seized 11,700 stimulant pills worth Ks. 58.5 million and 860 grams of heroin valued at Ks. 86 million from the motorist identified as Zaw Bauk (alias) Mar Dee. The estimated value of the confiscated drugs is about Ks. 144.5 million.

 

The suspected drug courier confessed that the drugs will be transported to Mogaung Township and he would receive Ks. 2.5 million as transportation charge. He has been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law by the local police station.
