Thailand deports Myanmar migrant workers to Myawaddy

Myawaddy, 17 August


A total of 350 Myanmar migrant workers including 217 men and 133 women were handed over by the Thai authorities to their Myanmar counterpart at No. 2 Myanmar-Thai Friendship Bridge in Myawaddy yesterday.


The returnees were welcomed by the district Administrator U Tay Za Aung and departmental officials, and provided free medical check-ups and necessary assistance to them to go back homes.


A total of 65033 Myanmar migrant workers have been handed over by Thailand to Myanmar from May 1 to August 16 this year. 


Local authorities sent 350 Myanmar migrant workers who entered Myanmar yesterday to quarantine centers in accordance with the guidance of Ministry of Health and Sport amid the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
