Traditional medicine hospital opens in Gyobingauk

A 16-bedded traditional medicine hospital was opened to public in Gyobingauk Township, Bago Region this morning.

Speaker of Magway Regional parliament U Khin Maung Yin, Regional Minister for Social Affairs Daw Nyunt Nyunt Htay, the Lower House MP U Htay Min Thein, an official from the Department of Traditional Medicine and donors U Tun Lwin and Daw Le Le Win cut a ribbon to open the healthcare facility. Afterwards, the regional parliament speaker and authorities sprinkled scented water on the stone inscription of the hospital and viewed round the hospital.

According to the regional parliament speaker, a total of 57,447 patients have been given medical treatment by the traditional medicine practitioners from the Department of Traditional Medicine during the period from April to September 2018 in Bago Region. They also made 438 field trips to offer healthcare services to 16,841 patients in the region.

An official from the Department of Traditional Medicine said the traditional medicine hospital was built by spending more than Ks. 119 million and it has been providing healthcare services to 413 people on a monthly basis. The four-storey staff housing was also constructed at a cost of Ks. 328.9 million for the employees from the hospital, he added.

A town elder also spoke words of thanks. The ceremony came to an end after a certificate of honour was presented to the donors.—Zeyar Tun
