Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe accepts donations for COVID-19 committee

Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe, in his capacity as Secretary (2) of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), received donations from donors yesterday afternoon at his office in Nay Pyi Taw. Union Minister for Office of the Union Government U Min Thu, officials and staff members of his ministry, officials and staff members of General Administration Department and other donors collectively donated K25 million, and the officials and staff members of the Ministry of Education collectively donated K16.7 million to the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Union Minister for Office of the Union Government U Min Thu explained about the reason for the collective donation. He said that he felt proud for the collective donations of his staff members.


Union Minister for Education Dr Myo Thein Gyi said that his ministry had already donated money and technical equipment such as robot trolleys, drones with speaker, and thermometers for COVID-19 response efforts. Officials, staff members and families from his ministry yesterday donated K16.7 million to the committee with their own consents, according to Dr Myo Thein Gyi.


Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe expressed thanks to the two ministries. He said that not only the donations but also the various supports and assistance provided by the General Administration Department under the Ministry of the Office of the Union Government are very significant in COVID-19 response efforts.


Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe pointed out that if the general public effectively cooperates with the officials and health workers, the length of COVID-19 pandemic will be short. After receiving the donations, Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe returned certificates of honour to the donors.
