Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe receives cash donation for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities

A donation ceremony for measures against COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment was held at the Ministry of Health and Sports in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon. Firstly, Daw Lwin Lwin Mhan, wife of Union Minister for International Cooperation U Kyaw Tin, said that Myanmar is now conducting COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities and so the Asia Pacific Women’s Association (APWA) in Brussels of Belgium, which was organized with the wives of diplomats in Brussels, donated cash for COVID-19 measures. She also extended her best wishes for health workers who are at the front line in fight against COVID-19


Then, a representative of Myanmar Gurkha Federation and Myanmar Gurkha Hindu Religious Association explained that it is the second-time donation of the association to COVID-19 central committee and their further donations for COVID-19 measures across the nation.


Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe said that such donations are very effective for COVID-19 prevention, control and treatment activities and the infection rate can raise during the resurgence of COVID-19. The public need to follow the health guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sports and the infection rate would be controlled when the effective vaccine is developed and the people receive vaccinations. It is absolutely essential to stay at home during COVID-19 pandemic. If the people need to go outside, they must wear masks. Those who with chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes and kidney should stay at home and avoid sleeping together or coming into close contact with others. Such facts are the best ways during COVID-19.


The Union Minister also called for the attendees to share such knowledge to others.


During the event, Asia Pacific Women’s Association (APWA), Brussels donated Euro2,357 while Myanmar Gurkha Federation and Myanmar Gurkha Hindu Religious Association K50million, U Thit Lwin Lay + Daw Khin Thet Oo from Alar K2million, CSA students (Upper Myanmar) K1million.


Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe and Deputy Minister Dr Mya Lay Sein received the cash donation and gave the certificates of honour in return.—MNA
