Union Minister Dr. Pe Myint attends opening ceremony of Fortune TV funfair in Yangon

An opening ceremony of the funfair organized by Fortune TV, which is one of the channels of Digital Free to Air, was held yesterday evening at the One Entertainment Park, Paw Sann Hmwe Street, Thuwanna Township, Yangon.

 


Union Minister for Information Dr. Pe Myint delivered an opening remark at the event.

 


In his opening remark, Union Minister Dr. Pe Myint said that the Ministry of Information has been making an effort to promote the private media development. There were only State-owned media or a government-run media in the past, and media industry has improved by cooperating with privates sector.

 


The Union Minister said that arrangements had been made recently to enable the establishment of five private-run television channels and as a result, these five television channels appeared one after another, and the Fortune TV has become the fifth channel out of five networks.

 


Then Chairman of Fortune Broadcasting Company Limited U Mya Han delivered a congratulatory message on the occasion.

 


Union Minister Dr. Pe Myint, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Chairman of Fortune Broadcasting Company Limited U Mya Han and officials opened the funfair event with ribbon-cutting.

 


Then funfair activities were continued and renowned actors, actresses and vocalists performed the festival goers. As an effort to promote local media development, MRTV has signed cooperation agreement with five content providers in order to establish Digital Free to Air channels with DVB -2 in the Multi-Channel Playout System.

 


It was learnt that the Fortune TV Digital Free to Air Channel has been launched on a trial basis on 12 February, 2019 and officially broadcasting started on 16 February. The Fortune TV channel broadcasts to the public with several entertainment programmes along with educational and aesthetic features.—MNA (Translated by Win Ko Ko Aung)
