Working Committee holds meeting to address impact of COVID-19 on country’s economy

The Working Committee to address the impact of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the Country’s Economy was held at the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) in Yangon yesterday.


Speaking at the meeting, U Thaung Tun, Union Minister, Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and chair of the working committee, stressed that the Committee was formed to consider measures to address the negative impacts of the COVID-19 situation on the country’s economy.


The meeting discussed short, medium and long term measures to respond to the COVID-19 crisis. The Working Committee also reviewed additional measures to be undertaken by the government, together with the private sector.


Also present at the meeting were U Soe Win, Union Minister of the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry, U Thein Swe, Union Minister of the Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population, Dr Than Myint, Union Minister of the Ministry of Commerce, U Kyaw Kyaw Maung, Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar, U Soe Min, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar,


U Tin Latt, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, U Win Khant, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, U Aung Naing Oo, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, U Min Min, Director General of the Ministry of Commerce and other senior officials from the ministries concerned.—MNA
