Yangon Chief Minister encourages volunteers at COVID-19 treatment centres

Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein encouraged the volunteers at COVID-19 treatment centres on 20 October. The Chief Minister went to the COVID-19 treatment centres at the Yangon General Hospital, Botahtaung treatment centre, Thuwunna 300-bed treatment centre (Ayeyarwady centre) and Yankin Education College treatment centre.


The chief minister spoke words of encouragement, saying that he appreciated on behalf of Yangon regional government all the young health staff from the Ministry of Health and Sports, the volunteers from many different organizations, and youth volunteers who are fighting COVID-19 in the front line. Also, he was proud of their contribution to controlling COVID-19, he stressed. When the Chief Minister reached 300-bed Ayeyarwady treatment centre, U Zaw Zaw, Chairman of Ayeyarwady Foundation, explained the preparations for ICU and HDI.


Then, City Love and Hope Foundation donated K200 million to Yankin Education College treatment centre and K53 million for the accommodation of the health staff. The Regional Minister for Social Affairs U Naing Ngan Lin and Regional Minister for Immigration and Human Resources Daw Moe Moe Suu Kyi received the donations and gave the thankful speeches.


The pandemic is rising in Myanmar starting from late August, with highly reported cases in Yangon Region. So, the treatment centres supervised by the regional government are running in cooperation with the donors. The doctors, nurses and volunteers are playing an essential role at the COVID-19 treatment centres.
