The Ayeyawady Centre (Mandalay), which has been constructed under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Sports, was opened yesterday.

Mandalay Region Chief Minister Dr Zaw Myint Maung attended the opening event and gave words of encouragement to the doctors, nurses and volunteers at the centre.

Officials from the centre explained the arrangements inside the centre to the chief minister and officials. Construction of the 300-bed COVID Treatment Ayeyawady Centre (Chanmyathazi) began at the end of October. A 100-bed ICU/HDU Centre and Test and Care Centre will also be opened soon.

Ayeyawady Foundation will provide the foods for the health workers, volunteers and patients at the centre.

Under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Sports, the Ayeyawady Foundation also constructed Ayeyawady Centre (Yangon) for COVID-19 infected patients and ICU and HCU centres for emergency patients. —Ye Yint Shine
