The following are the congratulatory messages from Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Mrs Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh sent to State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi for the successful General Election held on 8 November 2020.

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen congratulates the State Counsellor

On behalf of the Royal Government and people of the Kingdom of Cambodia, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency on leading the National League for Democracy (NLD) to another landslide victory in Myanmar’s General Elections on 8 November 2020. The results have shown the trust and overwhelm support of the people of Myanmar to Your Excellency’s leadership and NLD’s rightful policy.

Under Your Excellency’s stewardship, Myanmar has achieved remarkable progress in her national development. I am confident that with the new mandate of the NLD, Myanmar will continue to further promote democratic values, paving the way for inclusive and durable peace, stability and prosperity in the country.

I look forward to continue working closely with Your Excellency to further advance the existing good relations and fruitful cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar for mutual benefits of our two peoples and the ASEAN Community as a whole.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the renewed assurances of my highest consideration and best wishes for your good health, happiness and greater success in your noble tasks.

Mrs Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of Bangladesh, sends congratulatory message to the State Counsellor

In the Prime Minister’s congratulatory message she conveyed her immense pleasure and congratulated the State Counsellor on the landslide victory of the National League for Democracy (NLD) under her able stewardship in the recent general election of Myanmar. 

She also expressed her belief that the overwhelming majority in the parliament for consecutive terms will undoubtedly further embolden the State Counsellor’s position to strive for meaningful democracy and the fulfillment of the aspirations of the peoples of Myanmar, including the minorities.

The Prime Minister also expressed that Bangladesh’s foreign policy is guided by the dictum of the Father of the Nation — friendship to all and malice towards none and therefore, courteous relations with immediate neighbours remain important. She also reaffirmed inter alia the Bangladeshi Government readiness to engage in deeper cooperation with Myanmar for better understandings and prosperity of both peoples and to work together with all neighbours, including Myanmar to achieve peace, stability, and progress in the region.
