14 rural roads and a bridge in Meikhtila Township, Mandalay Region are being upgraded to facilitate the transportation of local products, and 50% of the works have been completed, according to the Department of Rural Development Department (DRD).


The DRD conducts annual road upgrades, flooding and bridge construction to facilitate the transportation of local products by rural people. From the first week of October, the DRD took responsibility for the construction of two asphalt roads, six concrete roads, three gravel roads and one concrete bridge with the general surplus fund of 1580.290 million kyats for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The upgrade work is about 50 % complete.


The road upgrade work will be completed by the end of December, according to Daw San San War, township officer of the DRD.
