Britain is facing disruptions as countries ban flights and other travel from the UK over concerns about the spread of a new variant of the coronavirus.
France banned entry from the UK via the Strait of Dover, starting Monday.
A sign at the entrance to the port of Dover in Britain reads, "French Borders Closed."
A number of trucks and other vehicles were seen stranded there.
Concerns are growing that the traffic disruptions may lead to shortages of daily necessities. In parts of the country, long lines formed outside supermarkets.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson reassured the public that there is no problem with supplies.
Johnson revealed that he had discussed how to sort out the issue with French President Emmanuel Macron by phone.
Johnson insisted that the situation will be worked out soon. He called on citizens to stay calm.
