Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture Thura U Aung Ko and officials paid homage to patron Sayadaws, examiner Sayadaws and Sanghas sitting for the 71st Tipitakadhara Tipitaka Kovida selection examination held at Maha Pathana Cave, Kaba Aye Hill, Mayangon Township, Yangon, yesterday afternoon.

Ninety-five Sanghas were sitting for the day’s examination on principals and ideas. To receive the Tipitaka Kovida degree, there will be five stages of oral recitations and five stages of written examinations on principals and ideas. The Tipitakadhara degree will be awarded if the 20-volume Tipitaka Pali is successfully recited and the Tipitaka Kovida degree will be earned if the written examination on definitions, principals and ideas prescribed in more than 100 volumes of texts is passed.

Ever since the Tipitakadhara Tipitaka Kovida selection examinations were started on Myanmar Era 1310, until the 70th examination, there have been 14 Tipitakadhara Tipitaka Kovida religious heroes.—MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
