A fire drill was held in front of Myoma Market in Myaungmya Township, Ayeyawady Region this morning.

Before the fire drill, an official from the township fire brigade disseminated knowledge about the dangers of accidental fires, explained fire safety measures and demonstrated how to use fire extinguishers when a fire breaks out in the area. Afterwards, as many as 100 firefighters led by the commander of the township fire brigade U Aye Lwin demonstrated how to use fire extinguishers and conducted the first aid drill by using fire engines, water tankers and fire extinguishers.

The purpose of the drill is to put out the blaze in a short period of time if a fire breaks out in the market and carry out rescue works by the search and rescue team in order to save the trapped fire victims, said U Thant Zin Min, the head of the township fire brigade.—Sandar Moe (IPRD)
