Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw on 26 January inspected the maintenance works of Yangon-Pathein road (Yangon-Nyaungdon section).

 

On arrival at Bo Myat Tun Bridge, the Union Minister heard a report on wear and tear preventive measures, and stressed continuous maintenance procedures for the Bridge. At the milepost 73/7, the Union Minister surveyed the durability of Kyaunggon Bridge and repair and maintenance of Pathein-Monywa road Pathein-Kangalay-Yaykyiroad section. During inspection of Ngawon Bridge (Laymyithna) that will be opened soon, he heard a report on preparatory works, Kangon Bridge (Khattu), Hningyan Bridge, Parahita Bridge, Htonpauk Bridge, No 1 and No 2 Ngadaing Bridge, Paukpinyoe Bridge, Panteinkyaw Bridge, Hsisonkon Bridge and Pandaw Bridge projects, presented by officials. In response, the Union Minister said transport was difficult in Ayeyawady Region as it depended solely on waterways in the past. At present, a network and roads and Bridges have facilitated transport, which will be followed by the economic, health, education and social progress. But the transport facilities should meet their standard.

He then observed the final touches of the Ngawon Bridge (Laymyithna) project and preparations for the opening ceremony.

 

The Bridge, which is 1968.6 feet long, is located on Khattu-Pandawgyiroad section. The facility was built with 1.2-metre bored piles, reinforced concrete, steel box girders and reinforced concrete slabs. The 24-foot wide Bridge is flanked by 3.5-foot walkways. Its clearance area in 173 feet wide and 20 meters high.

 

Afterwards, the Union Minister looked into the requirements of Targwa-Phayagon-Dambi road, a pilot project of Rural Development Department in Hinthada District. He also inspected the maintenance of Hinthada-Zalunroad section and Kyeinpinhse-Setkaw-Danubyu-Zalunroad section and duration of Ayeyawady Bridge (Nyaungdon).— MNA (Translated by TMT)
