Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr. Myint Htwe met with Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance Chief Executive Officer Dr. Seth Berkley and Senior Country Manager Mr. Dirk Gehi at Ministry of Heatlh and Sports in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

During the meeting vaccination for disease free and healthy children, supports provided by Gavi group in the vaccination works, status of strengthening Vaccine Preventable Disease Surveillance and to improve vaccination coverage by prioritizing ethnic national regions were discussed.

After the meeting the Union Minister attended the Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Health and Sports and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on ‘The Vaccine Independence Initiative-VII held in Park Royal Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw. The Union Minister and UNICEF Executive Director Ms. Henrietta H. Fore signed the MoU at the Signing Ceremony. — MNA (Translated by Zaw Min)
