Meiktila, 1 February

An awareness talks about earthquake was held at the station of the District Fire Services Department in the Town of Meiktila, Mandalay Region yesterday. 

At the event, Assistant Director of the District Fire Services Department U Kyaw San elaborated on holding disaster drills, explained the aims of the awareness talk, discussed preventative measures and responses if a natural disaster occurs, and disseminated knowledge about the risks of earthquakes.

35 firefighters from the township Department of Fire Services and ten staff from the Township Red-Cross Society participated in the drill and practically orchestrated how to respond the disasters and how to rescue the victims if the natural disasters were happened.

Chairman of the District Administration Council U Zaw Zaw Oo and members, Chairman of the Township Administration Council U Zaw Aung Lay and member and departmental staff were also involved in the earthquake drill.—U Chan Thar(Township Reporter)
