As much as of K 20,190 million is spent on village development project (VDP) in 779 villages in Magway Region from 2014-2015 FY to 2018-2019 FY, according to the Department of Rural Development.
K 3450 million was spent for village development projects of 116 villages in 2014-2015 FY, K 7290 million for 245 villages in 2015-2016 FY, K 5400 million for 196 villages in 2016-2017 FY, K 3600 million for 133 villages in 2017-2018 FY, K 450 million for 15 villages in six month mini budget in 2018 and K 1020 million for 74 villages in 2018-2019 FY.
“For better family income, creating job opportunities and village developmental tasks, the department disbursed loans to rural people”, said U Myo Aung, director of rural development department in the region.
A total of 85834 people have been provided with loans of the VDP. Those who received loans will have to pay interest by 1.5 percent. The allowance loan is from K 100,000 to K 1,300,000. The 15 percent of the interest is being spent on construction of rural roads, bridges, water and electric supply system.
