ACTING on a tip-off that cargo trucks were burnt, and they blocked the road, 1,000 metres northeast of the Tawnaw waterfall in Kawkareik Township of Kayin State, security forces performed security measures yesterday morning. They regularized the communication route. Meanwhile, some 20 members of the KKO split group and PDF terrorists, including snipers 900 metres southeast of the waterfall, ambushed the security forces who conducted the counterattacks. The terrorist group retreated to the south.
In combing the area, a six-wheel truck, a 12-wheel truck, a 22-wheel truck, an express bus, and a Nissan caravan, totalling five, were damaged by fire.
The security forces helped some 30 vehicles facing traffic congestion of damaged vehicles resume driving. At about 3 pm, all cars restarted moving for Myawady, and the incident area was under security measures. — MNA
