An opening ceremony of Ayeyarwady Region Chief Minister’s Cup U-19 Men’s Football Tournament was held at Koethein football ground in the Town of Pathein, Ayeyawady Region yesterday evening.
At the event, the Region CM U Tin Maung Win delivered an opening speech and clarified the purposes of the tournament. “The tourney aims to raise the standard of Myanmar football, health and fitness of the whole region plus promoting the inter-ethnic friendship and to emerge of a new generation of athletes,” he added.
Afterwards, respective football teams from six Districts in the region took their position and saluted CM of Ayewawady Region Government. Then, CM U Tin Maung Win and officials watched the first game of the tournament which runs for May 25 to June 4.
In the first match, the team representing Pathein District beat the squad representing Hinthada District.—Hla Min Htut(IPRD)
