Wundwin 5 February

A rural bridge on an inter-village road in Wundwin Township, Mandalay Region was opened to traffic this morning.

The bridge was formally inaugurated by a prominent Buddhist monk and local authorities. It was built on a self-reliant basis to help improve socioeconomic status of local people in the area who once experienced many difficulties in the rainy season. The 160 ft. long, 13 ft. wide and 9 ft. high facility is of reinforced concrete type. Construction of the bridge began on 12 March and was completed on 9 September 2018, said U Maung San, member of the bridge construction committee.

Local people in western part of Wundwin Township and residents from eastern side of Mahlaing Township will be able to traverse the bridge with greater ease in all seasons.—Thein Myint Kyaw
