With the aim of preventing the extinction of fish species and preserving the biodiversity of the creek, fish planting ceremonies were held at the Yoe Creek in Yenweh Village and Hmawwan Creek in Ward-9 in Thongwa Township, Yangon Region on 4 August.

The Department of the Township Fisheries released a total of 750000 fish hatchlings into the creeks in order to increase fishery resources, to prevent from depletion of fish species and sufficient supply of fish through sustainability.

U Tint Lwin, Deputy Director of Yangon Region Fisheries Department, staff officer of the District Fisheries Department U Aye Naung, Chairman of Township Administration Council U Myo Min Aung and member-1 Major Than Zaw Lin and members, staff officer of the Township Fisheries Department U Myo Tint and staff and departmental officials attended the events and jointly released a total of 750000 fingerlings including 250000 Thai ngakhungma from Laydauntkan, 250000 fingerlings from Hlawka and 250000 Thai ngakhunma from Lyadauntkan into the creeks to further preserve the biodiversity of the creeks.—Sithu Lin (IPRD)
