Myanmar female footballers plan to play abroad

December 5

Myanmar female footballers are trying to join foreign clubs at the end of this year, according to the officials.

Myanmar women footballers started getting the opportunity to play abroad in 2021, and until now, Myanmar women’s national team striker Win Theingi Tun and team captain Khin Malar Tun have been able to play abroad.

Win Theingi Tun is the first Myanmar female footballer playing abroad. She joined Indian club Gokulam in 2021 and Lords FA of India in 2022. Now, she was offered by some Indian clubs, including her former club.

Win Theingi Tun will decide her future soon and she plans to visit India this month. The female striker is helping some other Myanmar women footballers to play in Indian clubs.

Captain of the Myanmar women’s national team Khin Malar Tun has also been offered by her former club College of Asian Scholars of Thailand, and a decision will be made soon.

If the number of Myanmar women footballers who play abroad increases larger, their qualification will improve more and will contribute to the development of Myanmar women’s football arena, officials stated.—Ko Nyi Lay/KZL
