Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 5,934 new cases of coronavirus infection in Tokyo on Wednesday.

The daily tally is down 3,253 from a week ago, for an eighth straight day of week-on-week decline.

The ministry also confirmed 26 deaths in the capital.

Nationwide, it confirmed 79,354 new cases and 368 deaths on Wednesday.
