Japan's health ministry says it confirmed 1,922 new cases of the coronavirus in Tokyo on Friday.

The daily tally is down 1,019 from a week ago and marks 24 straight days of week-on-week declines.

The ministry also reported 15 deaths in the capital.

There are 30 seriously ill patients who are on ventilators or ECMO heart-lung machines.
