Relevant ministries need to encourage the emergence of qualified human resources for the State, said Chairman of the State Ad­ministration Council Prime Min­ister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing in inspecting the No 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) under the No 1 Heavy Industries Enterprise of the Ministry of Industry near Pinngo Village of Pinpet region of Taunggyi Township yesterday morning.

 

Union Minister for Indus­try Dr Charlie Than and Deputy Minister U Yin Maung Nyunt re­ported on the resumption of the No 2 Steel Mill (Pinpet) Project on 4 October 2021 in accord with the guidance of the Senior Gen­eral during his inspection tour in 2021, work procedures for to be implemented for the resumption of the project, the progress of the project and repairing of dam­aged parts, inspections of the technical inspection team, and implementation of the project.

 

Chairman of Myanmar Economic Corporation Lt-Gen Nyo Saw and Union Minister for Natural Resources and En­vironmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi reported on the task being done by process en­gineers from MEC and Tyazh­promexport (TPE) of Russia, inspections of all machinery at workshops, repairing, substi­tution and installation, needs of iron ore for the project, and volume of excavation of indus­trial raw minerals.

 

In his response, the Senior General that it is necessary to control the extraction of under­ground natural resources and use them in necessary places beneficial for the State. Citi­zens have the right to manage underground and aboveground natural resources. Relevant ministries need to encourage the emergence of qualified hu­man resources for the State. It is necessary to systematically implement the projects with farsightedness. As the steel mill uses the world’s first-ever Romelt technology, all need to emphasize the work proce­dures in continuous production and arrange the manufactur­ing process among workshops. The Senior General stressed the need to set the inspection records of the third party.

 

The Senior General in­spected production processes and fulfilled the needs reported by officials.

 

Myanmar Economic Cor­poration in cooperation with Tyazhpromexport (TPE) of the Russian Federation started the implementation of the mill pro­ject on 5 September 2006 and handed it over to the Industry on 1 October 2012. The project was suspended on 15 March 2017. The Senior General on his inspection tour on 1 Octo­ber 2021 gave guidance that it is necessary to successfully implement the steel manufac­turing project as the country faced steel requirements. So, the project resumed on 4 Octo­ber. So far, 19 of 22 workshops have been conducted test-run­ning without loads. — MNA/ TTA
