In meeting with farmers in Gyogone Village of Shwedaung Township on 10 March, Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Live­stock and Irrigation Dr Tin Htut said that it is necessary to use quality short-term quality pad­dy varieties to arrange double and triple cropping patterns on a yearly basis and urged farm­ers to make progress from seed production agents to seed man­ufacturers.

 

After that, the deputy minister and officials viewed round the plantation of the seed division under Thegon Township Department of Ag­riculture, and discussed needs of orderly management to be able to increase the pure seed production business in finan­cial years in cooperation with local farmers.

 

Likewise, the deputy min­ister inspected the research and development activities of the paddy branch of Regional Research Center (Letpadan) under Department of Agricul­tural Research.

 

In the evening, the Deputy Minister and officials observed the ongoing operations in fi­nancial years and future plans of the Myanmar Rice Research Institute, Department of Ag­riculture in Hmawby, Yangon Region and attended to the re­quirements. — MNA/CT
