In commemoration of World Water Day 2023, seminars on the water sector were conducted at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-II in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Secretary of National Water Resources Committee Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Aung Kyaw Tun, departmental personnel, city development committees, officials from departments and organizations engaged in Myanmar’s water sector, supervisors and presenters who will participate in the discussion, and those interested from departments and organizations related to water sector were present on the occasion.

At the seminar, the Deputy Minister said that knowledge and experience-sharing activities can bring better cooperation between those from ministries and organizations and those who were engaged in the water sector. He also urged the attendees to participate in the presentation of measures on water, problems of water and ways of solving the problems and findings.

Since Myanmar is an agricultural country, the development of the water sector by planning to use water systematically will also contribute to the development process of other sectors. Water experts and all officials and staff from the ministries and organizations should participate as best they can, urged the deputy minister.

Then, resource persons from respective departments presented 22 papers and made the panel discussion session regarding the utilization and conservation of water resources.

The seminars are held for the public to know the limited availability of water resources, address water and sanitation needs, and the need to change water usage, consumption and management patterns in daily life. — MNA/CT
