Some villages in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region suffered from scarcity of drinking water due to the extreme hot weather.

 

As part of efforts to help the difficulties of local people, staff from the Township Department of Rural Development will pay a domiciliary visit to the homes of affected people in seven villages in Nyaung-U Township of Mandalay Region from April 23 to 29 and will provide 5000 gallons of drinking water per day to them, according to U Nan Tint, chairman of the Township Administration Council.

 

A water tanker capable of storing 2500 gallons of drinking water from the office of the Tropical Zone Rural Water Supply Project of Department of the Township Rural Development and a water taker capable of storing 2500 gallons of drinking water from Nyaung-U District Fire Services Department will bring water from the Irrawaddy River and will provide clean water to the affected people in the villages in the Township.

 

Under this water supply program, a total of 825 people from 165 households and 17 families in Ngapai Village in the Township received 5000 gallons of drinking water on 24 April, according to an official from the Township Department of Rural Development.—Dipa Lin(IPRD)
