With the participation of the public, Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is implementing various methods including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) to detect and seize illegal timbers and forest products in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, the states and regions in the country.
According to the statistics sent by Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, the State and Regional Forest Departments, 207.80 tons of illegal timbers including illegal teak weighing 24.38 tons, 31.10 tons of hardwood, 152.31 tons of others timbers, 11 vehicles and 50 culprits were confiscated and arrested from March 13 to 19 in this year in the country, according to Forest Department.—(MNA)
