A mass trash collection was conducted by departmental personnel, social organizations, political parties and the public led by township development committee on the sandbanks in front of the port, Mawlaik Township, Sagaing Region yesterday.

 

“It is the third of its kind in the township however; it is the first time on the sandbanks. The mass trash collection was conducted in order to prevent the blockage of rivers and creeks, to ensure safety of aquatic animals and to mitigate adverse impact on ecosystem” said U Zaw Zaw Tun, executive of Township Development Committee.

 

“The campaign launched through cooperation between departmental officials and local residents make public get convinced of the systematic discard of trash as a role model for the locals; our city will be more pleasant and beautiful” said U Tin Tun Hlaing, one of the community leaders.

 

A total of 300 people including departmental personnel, social organizations and local residents took part in the campaign.
