A ceremony to present cash assistance to pregnant women and children under 2 years old was held at Thaungyin Hall in Myawady Township, Kayin State today.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Kayin State Minister for Bamar Ethnic Affairs U Teza Htut Hlaing Htway said that cash assistance was donated by the government under its policy to provide better nutrient to kids and expectant mothers. Next, U Zaw Min, Deputy Director of the Department of Social Welfare explained matters relating to proving cash assistance programmes to pregnant women and children.

 

Afterwards, the regional minister presented over Ks. 86.5 million for 1,705 expectant mothers and 490 children under 2 years of age through Deputy Commissioner U Tezar Aung and a pregnant woman expressed words of thanks. Each expectant mother and kid under 2 years old were furnished with Ks. 15,000 per month and cash assistance was given out to beneficiaries once in three months.

 

This was the first time of presenting cash assistance to the pregnant women and children under 2 years old in Myawady, according to the Department of Social Welfare.—Htein Lin Aung (IPRD)
