Mawlamyine, 17 February
A ceremony to commission two new lifts into service was held at the base of the Kyaikthanlan Pagoda in Mawlamyine, Mon State this morning.
Firstly, the ceremony was opened by reciting the Namo Tassa three times and the donors expressed their satisfiction of making donation to install the lifts. Next, Commander of the South-East Command Maj-Gen Moe Moe Aung, Mon State Minister for Social Affairs Dr. Htein Lin, the donors and patron of the pagoda board of trustees U Tin Aung cut a ceremonial ribbon to put new lifts into service and sprinkled scented water on them.
The new lifts were built with Ks. 75.4 million donated by Daw Kywe Kywe and family with a view to helping Buddhist pilgrims across the country pay homage to the historic pagoda conveniently.—IPRD
