The signing ceremony of the MoU on legal cooperation and legislative research project be­tween the Ministry of Legal Af­fairs and the China-ASEAN Le­gal Research Centre was held in Chongqing of China yesterday.

 

A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Legal Affairs and Union Attorney-General Dr Thida Oo attended the ceremony.

 

At the event, the Union min­ister said that the Ministry of Le­gal Affairs is implementing the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan entitled, “Legal service for justice and fair­ness” under five objectives, and cooperation with partner coun­tries and international organiza­tions is one of them. Therefore, the ministry made MoU to work together with the China-ASEAN Legal Research Centre in legal sectors.

 

According to the MoU, the ministry and the China-ASE­AN Legal Research Centre will mainly cooperate in the research works for drafting laws and in the fields of legal knowledge develop­ment. Moreover, the two coun­tries can exchange knowledge on differences in the legal system, language, political policy and cul­tural norms and cooperation of legal affairs of the two countries will be effective.

 

Then, the Rector of the Southwest University of Political Science and Law appointed the Union minister as an honourable professor of the university for the duration of 2023-2028. — MNA/ KTZH
