With the help of the public, Forest Department under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is implementing various methods including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) to detect and seize illegal timbers and forest products in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, states and regions in the country.
According to the statistics sent by Nay Pyi Taw, state and regional Forest Departments, a total of 56.87 tons of illegal timbers including 26.62 tons of teak, 13.92 tons of hardwood, 16.31 tons of other timbers, 22 vehicles and 19 offenders were seized and arrested from July 17 to 23 this year in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, states and regions, according to Forest Department.—(MNA)
