The Yangon Region government announced that they will sell five pyi of rice and one viss of cooking oil per person at People’s Square in Yangon starting 11 August.

 

They will sell Amehta at K2,500 per pyi, K4,000 for Ayeyawady Pawsan and K4,400 per viss of cooking oil starting from 9 am on 11 August.

 

It is announced that they will sell an unlimited amount of rice and 1000 visses of cooking oil per day and anyone can purchase the items freely.

 

The rice and cooking oil were sold at fairer prices at the three-day monsoon market fair from 4 to 6 August at People’s Square. On 7 August, the Shwebo Pawsan was sold at K110,000 to K120,000 per bag (108 pounds), Ayeyawady Pawsan K94,000 to K97,000, Aemahta (10 per cent) K65,000 and Aemahta (25 per cent) K60,000 at the rice wholesale centres (Wahdan and Bayintnaung). — TWA/KTZH
