One person has died and 13 people were injured in a fire at Honda Myanmar’s plywood factory on Seikkantha Road, Ward-23 in Shwepyitha Township in Yangon Region on 18 February.

The fire is believed to have started from a boiler explosion of the factory. Accompanied by officials from the General Administration Department, U Win Shwe, Director of the Department of Disaster Management under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement went to a public hospital in Insein Township on 19 February to provide cash assistance to the fire victims.

They furnished 13 fire victims who are now receiving medical treatment at the hospital with Ks. 50,000 each. In addition, they also presented Ks. 300,000 to the family member of the deceased.—Myo Min Thein (Mayangon)
