A course on preservation of national intangible cultural heritage was launched in the area of Kanbawza Thadi Palace in Bago yesterday.
Bago Social Affairs Minister Daw Nyunt Nyunt Htay gave opening remarks. Next, regional representative from professional team of National Intangible Cultural Heritage and curator of Royal Kaytumadi Cultural Museum Dr. Mar Mar Wai clarified the purpose of the course. She said that intangible cultural heritage does not mean building and place but the culture which is intangible and it exists many years ago. As it comes into close contact with every people, it is more relevant to public than tangible cultural heritage. As well, secretary of the team deputy director U Ye Myat Aung introduced the lectures that will be taught in the course.
The course aims at placing Myanmar’s intangible cultural heritage on the list of World Heritage and making a list of intangible cultural heritage with international scale. The course continues until 21st February and altogether 45 trainees from General Administration Departments in 28 townships, Taungoo Education College, Bago Township Basic Education Department, and Mon, Rakhine, Shan, Kayin, Pa-O and Chin Ethnic Literature and Culture Groups are attending the course.
