According to the Fisheries Depart­ment of Taninthayi Region, Myeik Dis­trict shipped a total of 4,471.35 tonnes of fisheries products to Thailand in Novem­ber 2023, generating US$ 4.73 million.

 

The aquatic products are trans­ported to Thailand from Myeik Dis­trict through the Mawtaung and Ka­wthoung-Ranong border trade routes, said U Zaw Min Oo, the Deputy Director of the Fisheries Department of Tanin­thayi Region.

 

“Taninthayi Region primarily trans­ports aquatic products from Myeik Dis­trict. Some products are transported through the Mawtaung border trade post, while others are directly exported from Kawthoung to Ranong. In Novem­ber, a total of 4,471.35 tonnes of prod­ucts were exported; among them, 3,330 tonnes were sent from Kawthoung, and 1,141.35 tonnes were exported from the Mawtaung post. Fresh fishes were ex­ported from Mawtaung, while fish meals were exported from Kawthoung,” said U Zaw Min Oo.

 

Aqua products from Taninthayi Re­gion, especially fish, prawns, farming fishes, and other marine products from Kawthoung, Dawei and Myeik districts are exported via five transport channels. Some products are transported after delivery to Yangon Region via both land and water transport. — ASH/ TMT
