In cooperation with the public, personnel from Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is implementing various methods including the Community Monitoring and Reporting System (CMRS) to detect and seize illegal timbers and forest products in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, the states and regions in Myanmar.
According to the statistics sent by Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, the State and Regional Forest Departments, 130.87 tons of illegal timbers including 30.07 tons of illegal teak, 19.09 tons of illegal hardwood, 81.71 tons of others timber, 16 vehicles and 27 culprits were seized and arrested from January 1 to 7 this year in the country, according to Forest Department.—(MNA)
